リスのリッキー、ウサギのウーちゃん、クマのクーちゃんは、スープにこだわりがあります。

リッキーの「炒りたてクルミとどんぐりのカプチーノ仕立て」。クルミとヘーゼルナッツをすり鉢の中で粉砕し、ペーストにして豆乳と合わせます。鍋に注がれたスープはカフェラテのような淡いベージュで、上にはふわふわのフォームが乗ります。焦がしナッツの甘い香りがふわりと広がります。

ウーちゃんの「朝摘みハーブと根菜のルビー・ミネストローネ！」。ビーツ、人参、セロリ、ディル、ミントをトントンと小さく刻みます。ビーツの赤紫が鍋の中でゆっくり広がり、にんじんの橙、セロリの緑が宝石のように浮かび上がります。湯気を吸い込むと、土の温かさとハーブの清涼感が同時に胸に広がります。

クーちゃんの「蜂蜜と生姜の黄金とろみシチュー！」。かぼちゃ、さつまいも、生姜、蜂蜜、きのこを巨大な鍋で煮込むと、黄金色のスープがゆっくり波打ちます。かぼちゃとさつまいもがほろほろと崩れ、生姜のピリッとした香りが湯気に混ざります。

今日12月22日はスープの日。森には、ぐつぐつとした温かさと笑い声が、いつまでもいつまでも漂っていました。

Warm Soup That Fills the Forest

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear all care deeply about soup. Ricky’s soup is called: “Freshly Roasted Walnut and Acorn Cappuccino Style.” He crushes walnuts and hazelnuts in a stone bowl, makes a paste, and mixes it with soy milk. The soup in the pot is a soft beige, like a café latte. On top, there is fluffy foam. The sweet smell of roasted nuts gently fills the air.

Woo’s soup is called: “Morning Herb and Root Ruby Minestrone!” She chops beets, carrots, celery, dill, and mint into tiny pieces. The beet’s purple slowly spreads in the pot, and the orange carrots and green celery float like jewels. When you breathe in the steam, you feel the warmth of the earth and the coolness of herbs in your chest.

Koo’s soup is called: “Golden Honey and Ginger Thick Stew!” He boils pumpkin, sweet potato, ginger, honey, and mushrooms in a huge pot. The golden soup gently ripples. The pumpkin and sweet potato softly melt, and the spicy smell of ginger mixes with the steam.

Today is December 22nd—Soup Day. Warm steam and happy laughter filled the forest, and they kept floating gently, forever and ever.

ウーちゃんは、「わたしの一つ目はこれ。 『草、裂く』」 その瞬間、ウーちゃんの足元の草が“バリッ”と割れ、観客が「本当に裂けた!?」とざわつく。 続けてウーちゃんは耳をぴんと立ててもう一つ。 「『耳、いい耳』！」 観客の子どもたちが「ほんとだ〜！」と耳を触りながら真似をした。

クーちゃんは、 「まずはこれ。 『鮭、今朝』」 その瞬間、どこからか本当に鮭が“ぴちっ”と跳ねて登場し、観客が大爆笑。 続けてクーちゃんは、トマトを両手いっぱいに抱えて叫んだ。 「そしてこれ！ 『熊、トマト撒く』！」 言ったそばからトマトがぽんぽん飛び散り、観客は大慌て。

今日12月21日は、回文の日。言葉がくるっと踊って、森には笑い声がいつまでも響いていました。

Kururin Palindrome Show in the Forest

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear are very good at word play.

Ricky said, “Here is my first one! ‘Risu, misuri!’ (Squirrel makes a mistake!)” The audience laughed, “That happens!” Then Ricky held up a chestnut and said another one. “And here is the next! ‘Risu, kuri, kusuri!’ (Squirrel, chestnut, and a magic medicine!)” Someone shouted, “What kind of medicine!?” Ricky winked proudly and said, “It’s a secret forest flavor.”

Woo said, “Here is my first one. ‘Kusa saku.’ (The grass splits.)” At that moment, the grass under Woo’s feet went crack! The audience whispered, “Did it really split!?” Then Woo stood tall with her ears straight up. “And this one! ‘Mimi ii mimi!’ (Such good ears!)” The children in the audience touched their ears and copied her.

Koo said, “Here is my first one. ‘Sake kesa.’ (Salmon this morning.)” Right then, a real salmon jumped up with a splash! The audience burst into laughter. Then Koo grabbed a bunch of tomatoes and shouted, “And this one! ‘Kuma tomato maku!’ (Bear throws tomatoes!)” As soon as he said it, tomatoes flew everywhere, and the audience panicked.

ウーちゃんは「ブリと彩り根菜の花畑カルパッチョ」。薄く切ったブリの身を花びらのように広げ、細長い人参やラディッシュをくるくる巻いて花束に仕立てます。皿の上にはピンク色のブリの花が咲き乱れ、レモンハーブドレッシングが爽やかに香ります。シャキシャキとした根菜の音に、とろけるブリの甘みが重なります。

クーちゃんは「豪快！ブリの森の恵みハニーステーキ」。厚切りのブリを炭火でジュウジュウと焼き、表面がカリッと音を立てると、蜂蜜とバルサミコを煮詰めた濃厚ソースを豪快にかけます。巨大ステーキからは、白い煙が立ち昇り、見ているだけで迫力満点。

Burigochi in Full Bloom in the Forest

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear received a big, beautiful buri fish as a winter gift. They decided to have a cooking contest in the forest!

Ricky’s “Buri and Nut Acorn Pâté” Ricky gently flaked the buri that had been cooked in oil. He mixed it with crushed almonds and walnuts, and added a little white miso. Then he filled a small acorn-shaped shell with the mixture. The smell was warm and nutty, and on top, he placed a crispy chip made from buri skin.

Woo’s “Buri and Colorful Root Veggie Flower Carpaccio” Woo sliced the buri thin like flower petals. She rolled long strips of carrot and radish into tiny curls, and made a bouquet on the plate. Pink buri flowers bloomed across the dish, and the lemon herb dressing smelled fresh and bright. The crunchy sound of veggies and the soft sweetness of buri made a perfect match.

Koo’s “Big Buri Steak with Forest Honey” Koo grilled thick slices of buri over a hot fire. The surface sizzled and made a crispy sound. Then he poured a rich sauce made from honey and balsamic vinegar. The giant steak gave off white steam, and everyone said, “Wow!”

ウーちゃんの『お花畑のクリスタル・ロリポップ』。透明度の高いパラチニットを溶かし、シリコン型に食用花やドライフルーツをピンセットで美しく配置します。静かに流し込んだ飴が固まると、まるでハーバリウムのように、高い透明度の中に鮮やかな花やフルーツが浮かびます。

クーちゃんの『黄金のハニー・ジンジャー・ドロップ』。砂糖、水飴、たっぷりのハチミツを煮詰め、火を止めて生姜汁とレモンを加えます。スプーンでポトッ、ポトッと垂らして円形にし、粉砂糖をまぶせば完成。ぽってりとした黄色い形は手作り感にあふれ、濃厚なハチミツと爽やかなレモンの香りが立ち上ります。

Sweet Crystals of the Forest

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear are showing their special hard candies.

Ricky’s “Crunchy Amber Nut Candy”
Ricky boils sugar and water in a pot until it turns brown like caramel. Then he quickly mixes in crushed nuts and a little salt, and spreads it out thin. When it cools and hardens, he breaks it with a loud “crack!” The candy looks like brown glass, and inside, the nuts are packed tightly. It’s crunchy and shiny!

Woo’s “Flower Garden Crystal Lollipop”
Woo melts clear candy and gently places edible flowers and dried fruits into a silicone mold using tweezers. She slowly pours the candy into the mold. When it hardens, it looks just like a herbarium. Bright flowers and fruits float inside the clear candy, sparkling in the light.

Koo’s “Golden Honey Ginger Drop”
Koo boils sugar, syrup, and lots of honey. After turning off the heat, he adds ginger juice and lemon. He drops spoonfuls onto paper, making round shapes, and sprinkles them with powdered sugar. The candy is soft yellow and round, with a cozy handmade look. The smell of sweet honey and fresh lemon fills the air.

ウーちゃんの「朝摘み人参とオレンジのステンドグラス」。人参とオレンジを練り込んだ生地を極限まで薄くのばし、低温でじっくり焼きます。焼き上がったクッキーは、オレンジ色に透き通り、繊細なレース模様が浮かび上がります。口に入れると「パリッ」と一瞬で割れ、人参の甘みとオレンジの酸味が広がります。

Forest Christmas, Sweet Gifts

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear are baking Christmas cookies in the forest.

Ricky’s “Buried Nut Croquant” Ricky uses perfectly ripe walnuts, hazelnuts, and acorns. He caramelizes them with maple syrup and gently sticks them together with a little dough. Then he bakes them twice. The cookie looks rough like a rock. When you bite it, it goes “crunch! crack!” with a loud sound.

Woo’s “Morning Carrot and Orange Stained Glass” Woo mixes fresh carrot and orange into the dough and rolls it out very thin. She bakes it slowly at a low temperature. The cookie turns a clear orange color, with a lace-like pattern. When you eat it, it breaks with a “snap!” and melts quickly. The gentle sweetness of carrot and the fresh sourness of orange fill your mouth.

Koo’s “Secret Honey Jar and Berry Power Skookie” Koo uses lots of fermented butter and wild honey. He bakes a thick cookie as big as a bear’s fist! Just before it’s done, he pours more honey on top and caramelizes the surface. Red berries shine like jewels. The outside is crispy and smells toasty, and the inside is soft and heavy. It’s a cookie full of power!

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear are using maple syrup in special ways.

Ricky’s “Winter’s Hidden Treasure” Ricky roasts walnuts and almonds, then mixes them with dark maple syrup cooked into caramel. He adds a little bit of soy sauce, and a warm, nutty smell rises into the air. The snack is shaped like a bar. When you bite it, it goes “crunch, crack!” with a happy sound.

Woo’s “Morning Dew on the Snowfield” Woo gently places a white cheesecake into a clear glass bowl. Inside, she hides golden maple jelly. On top, she adds thyme, rosemary, and tiny flowers. When you eat it, it melts softly like snow. After the sour taste of cheese, the sweet maple and fresh herbs spread gently in your mouth.

Koo’s “Amber of the Forest” Koo cuts thick pieces of salmon and soaks them in very dark maple syrup. Then he slowly smokes them with cherry wood chips. He brushes syrup again and again until the salmon shines like candy. The outside is hard like caramel, and the inside is chewy. The sweet and salty taste grows stronger with every bite.

ウーちゃんの「月光のレイヤード・シャドーボックス」。白く長い耳を揺らしながら、極薄の和紙をちぎって重ねます。毛羽立った縁はまるで彼女の毛並みのよう。バックライトに照らされると、三日月や雪の結晶が浮かび上がり、霧のようなグラデーションが舞台全体をやさしく包み込みます。

クーちゃんの「等身大の森のシンボルツリー」。力強い腕で段ボールを何百枚も積み上げ、爪で削り出すと、ゴツゴツとした大木の彫刻が現れます。ザラッとした断面は年輪のように重なり、フットライトの影が深く落ち、森の守り神のような存在感を放ちました。

今日12月16日は、紙の記念日。段ボールのシンボルツリーに、クイリングの木の実が飾られ、透かし和紙のランプが灯されると、「森のアート」が完成しました。

Forest Paper Artists

Ricky the squirrel, Woo the rabbit, and Koo the bear are making paper art.

Ricky’s Mini Nut Quilling
Ricky moves his tiny paws very fast. He rolls thin craft paper into tight little circles. Just like holding a nut, he makes small parts that turn into mini acorns and pinecones.

Woo’s Moonlight Shadow Box
Woo gently shakes her long white ears. She tears soft paper and layers it. The fuzzy edges look like her fur. When light shines from behind, a moon and snowflakes appear. The soft glow wraps the stage like mist.

Koo’s Big Forest Tree Sculpture
Koo uses his strong arms to stack hundreds of cardboard pieces. He scrapes the surface with his claws. A big tree sculpture appears, rough and strong. The lines look like tree rings. Warm light from below makes deep shadows. It looks like a forest guardian.

Today is December 16th—Paper Day. Ricky’s paper nuts are placed on Koo’s big tree. Woo’s glowing paper lamp shines from the branches. Together, their forest art is complete.
